Arriving in Copenhagen

The semester at Copenhagen Unviersity starts in week 6 (Spring) and week 36 (Autumn). At the Department of Psychology, we do not require for you to be in Denmark before this time, but we recoomend you to arrive a little early to get acquainted with the city and to partake in the Introductory Days which will be 31 January and 1 February. You can read more about the Introductory Days here
Moreover, we advice you to follow the Pre-Semester Danish Language Course.

How do I get to the Department of Psychology?

The Department of Psychology is located in Copenhagen city centre on Øster Farimagsgade 2A.

The Department is located near Nørreport Station, from which it is a five minutes walk to the Department. Alternatively, students may want to consider renting or buying a bicycle which is the standard means of transportation for Danish students. Information on public transportation can be found on How to Find Us.

As a part of the Faculty of Social Sciences the Department is placed at the Centre for Health and Society (CSS) which is part of Copenhagen Univesity's City Campus. You can read about City Campus at the Faculty website and download a CSS campus map under How to Find Us.

Pre-Semester Danish Language Course

We advice exchange students to follow the Pre-Semester Danish Language Course offered by the Department of Nordic Studies and Linquistics. The course is a great introduction to Danish language, culture and society and is a great way to meet fellow exchange students from across the university.

The housing foundation and picking up your key

At present it has proven somewhat difficult to pick up the key to your new lodgings at the housing foundation. While we work hard to assure that this becomes easier down the road, here are a few things to keep in mind for when you arrive:

  • You can only pick up your key from 12 o'clock on the day your contract begins.

If you arrive prior to the day your contract begins, write the housing foundation and check if the former resident has already handed it in.

If you arrive on Friday afternoon or weekends try and have someone else pick up your key. If you have a mentor assigned ask if he or she is able to help you out or knows someone who is.
