About CoInAct

CoInAct brings together researchers from different disciplines – including philosophy, psychology and neuroscience – with a common interest in understanding human cognition and action.

In general, we aim to (1) improve understanding of the psychological, philosophical and neural foundations of human cognition, action, and movement, and to (2) foster interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists and students interested in these research areas.

CoInAct was formally established in 2018 with the support of the Department of Psychology, the Department of Communication, and the Department of Neuroscience. CoInAct is jointly led by Mark Schram Christensen, Thor Grünbaum and Søren Kyllingsbæk.

Our research focuses on:

  • investigating the neural mechanisms underlying human control of movements
  • examining the psychological mechanisms behind human voluntary actions
  • understanding the philosophical issues regarding mind and action, concerning topics such as agency, intention, motivation, and moral responsibility
