Center for Anxiety (CfA) is based at the Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen. The center is a treatment, teaching, and research facility, specializing in internalizing problems (anxiety, OCD, school refusal behaviour and depression) in children, adolescents and adults.

Center for Anxiety is one of the leading institutions offering specialized treatment for anxiety, OCD, school refusal behaviour and depression in Denmark. We excel at being double qualified - that is, we have an extensive theoretical knowledge relating anxiety and depression, and are specialists in treating these problems in youth and adults. Our research shows us what maintains anxiety and depression, and our treatment experience has taught us how to successfully target these factors in treatment.

At Center for Anxiety, we offer cognitive behavioural therapy or metacognitive therapy for children, adolescents and adults. The treatment is conducted either individually or in groups, depending on the problem.

Notice: At the end of the year, the clinic at the Center for Anxiety will close, and the center will transition to being a research unit as well as an educational and supervision institution. Therefore, as of 23 August 2024, the intake of new clients is closed.

At Center for Anxiety, we are trying to get one-step closer to understanding why some children and young people develop anxiety and depression and how to quickly and effectively help them overcome these problems. We have therefore i.e. developed a completely new treatment concept, ‘Help for Self-Help’ that involves helping parents to learn how they can help their children. We have received international recognition for our work in finding new ways to help children and young people.
